There is a moment, when you hold a truly handcrafted piece of jewelry, that you feel something different. Not just the weight of the metal or the cool surface of the stone — but the presence of intention. Of hands. Of time. That feeling is exactly what Lady J Jewelry was built on.

I'm Jessica D'Amico — metalsmith, designer, and the Lady behind Lady J Jewelry. My studio is rooted in Brooklyn, New York, where I design and handcraft every piece using artisanal tools, methods, and ethically sourced materials. I'm a Brooklyn Made certified designer, and that designation means something to me: it's a commitment to local craft in a world that increasingly forgets where things come from.

Why Jewelry? Why Now?

Long before CAD software existed, before designs were rendered on screens and sent to machines, jewelry was made entirely by human hands. There is a historic significance to adornment — a lineage of craft that stretches back thousands of years — and I believe that lineage needs to continue. My work is a quiet act of resistance against mass production. Every hammer mark, every setting, every curve of metal is a reminder that objects can carry meaning when they're made with care.

The Magic of the Stone

If the metalwork is the architecture, the gemstone is the soul. I hand-source every stone myself — traveling as far as Tucson annually to find specimens that stop me in my tracks. Rare opals, raw emeralds, tourmaline, minerals with color and character you simply cannot replicate. Hunting down a unique stone is part of the magic for me. Each one has its own story, its own energy, and finding the right stone for the right piece is one of the most quietly thrilling parts of this work.

My designs are also deeply informed by ancient alchemy symbols, the transformative Tarot, and the language of music — themes that lend each piece a sculptural, layered quality that is at once edgy and elegant, bold and deeply personal.

Who Is Lady J For?
