On Saturday, May 16, Brooklyn Based and Brooklyn Brewery are headed to Crown Heights for the first Immersion of the year. If you’ve never been on one of our daylong food, drinking, and shopping crawls, here’s how they work—for a mere $25 you get a wad of “walking around money” that entitles you to four of Brooklyn's best beers at four different bars, your choice of two lunches, and sweet deals around the neighborhood.
This year, the fun begins at Berg’n, where you'll get a Green Market Wheat beer and, if you like, slow smoked, pulled pork with pommes frites from Mighty Quinn’s Barbecue. From there, you can choose your own adventure, hitting up Covenhoven for your choice of BLAST!, a double IPA, or Sorachi Ace, a saison-style ale; Butter & Scotch for a Chocolate Stout (with the option of upgrading to a beer float for a few bucks!) and Catfish for Summer Ale. If BBQ is not your thing, you can opt instead for lunch at Ital Kitchen, one of our favorite Caribbean food joints in Crown Heights, where you can order your choice of veggie jerk chicken, Brooklyn chow mein, any stew or veggie jerk wrap.
Some of the deals we’ve wrangled so far include 20% off any purchase of $20 or more Owl & Thistle General Store, a free coffee or tea when you purchase any baked goodie from Cafe Forte; 20% off jewelry at Calabar Imports, 20% off any purchase at Reclaimed Home and 20% off any non-sale items at Lady J Jewelry; 30% off a Five Element acupuncture session at Mountain (which you'll probably want to save for later, and you can, till August of this year) plus 25% off a selection of drinks the day of the Immersion.
We’ll be playing some trivia games throughout the day for fun and prizes, too.
This is an awesome way to bring on spring, so tell your friends to clear their calendars for an excellent day of drinking and shopping in Crown Heights and snag a ticket now.

There are a few reasons why I like a procrastinator. First, to know one is to love one. Second, the thrill of scoring a totally awesome gift right before the jingle-bell rings is a great rush. Finally, all procrastinators are forced to shop locally! WooHoo! That's where I come in, a local boutique stocked with unique finds for all. Here's the 4 under $50:
1. Simple Shapes Stacking Rings in silver by Lady J Jewelry $32 each
2. Cirque Nailpolish in Chainmail $13 a bottle
3. Tay Tea Tins in 3 of my favorite flavors; Wild Woman, Better Than Sex and Lovers Tea $18 each
4. Alex Creates Wool Hats hand dyed and knitted by NY-er Alex Reynoso $35 each

There are a million and one holiday markets out there this time of year but this is special because it is a fundraiser for my kids' NYC Public School. There will be clothing, food and crafty vendors along with great local eats and coffee! The best part is The Art Shack is hosting a kids crafting workshop, so you can shop while your kid makes crafts in the next room. It doesn't get any better than that! Hope to see you there! Saturday, December 14, 11-5 in the PS 20 building, Clermont btwn Dekalb and Willoughby
This Saturday, in conjunction with BKStyled and O.N.A. we will be holding our 1st. Pop Up Shop in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Stop by and enjoy beer and wine on us while shopping and be eligible for some totally amazing giveaways from the vendors. Hope to see you there!
Join us for cocktails at Lady J +1 on Friday, October 18th, from 6:30pm-9pm to celebrate the launch of our two new ground-breaking collections: the dark & riveting Comanche, and the jagged & smart Sequence 2. For this event only, you'll get 20% off everything in the store, including some of the newest plus ones like Goldies Soaps, Mary Meyer Clothing and Family Affairs.
The Comanche collection captures the era and persona of the fearsome chiefs of this once loathed and war-mongering anarchist tribe. Fossils, feathers, leather, war clubs, and arrowheads meet silver and stones to command a great spirit within all who wear it. In Sequence 2, a fun and edgy line inspired by the mathematicians of ancient Greece, influences such as geometry and minimalist hardware meet brass and silver to create strong lines and elegant angles.
Hope to see you and your friends on the 18th!
The fall round up is here and it's full of graphics and nature! The latest arrivals for fall are fun, inspired and detailed to perfection! First, we have two new Brooklyn-based designers; #1 is Family Affairs. A mother-daughter design team, whose influences include the 60's mod-scene. The mambo shirt and Barbara skirt come together to exemplify this in an updated version of leopard-print, leather and buttoned-down structure. Next, #2, is ceramic designer Jonathan Castro's organic, nesting pinch-pots. Perfect for storing jewelry or spices and pretty enough to display anywhere in your home. #3 are the Povea Earrings from Lady J Jewelry's latest collection: Comanche. #4 is brooklyn-based designer: Mary Meyer. Her dresses for fall are graphic, striking and comfortable enough to wear all around town.
All of the above is available at the indie boutique Lady J Plus One this fall.
